After losing a battle with an augur while working at a poultry plant, Silent Mainor could’ve put out a help sign and lived off of pity change. Instead, the one-legged veteran returned to what he knew best: shining shoes, an art he began practicing as a National Guard member at Fort Hood 35 years ago. Silent’s Spectacular has now grown to four locations in Waco - the Hilton Hotel, the Courtyard Marriott, the Roosevelt Tower, and the Extraco Events Center - and its proprietor has gained a reputation as someone who’ll leave your boots shining and your face smiling.
